WANdisco Announces LiveData for MultiCloud
Data is becoming more and more distributed, stored in multiple locations on-premises and in the cloud. An influx of constantly changing data generated in and outside the organization presents challenges for data accessibility and data consistency. Innovation and economic growth are enabled by the ability to access and share data, and enterprises across all industries need new technologies to exploit their data’s full potential.
WANdisco today announced the general availability of LiveData for MultiCloud, built for guaranteed data consistency across hybrid cloud, multi-cloud and multi-region datacenters.
LiveData for MultiCloud ensures that data is always consistent in geographically distributed object store environments, which is a critical requirement for distributed, multi-cloud operations. The solution enables applications to access and modify S3 Objects and Azure Blobs in any location while ensuring data is available and consistent across all of them. LiveData for MultiCloud is now production ready, with major features such as a web-based user interface, high-availability, horizontal scalability, selective replication and replication across firewall-restricted deployments.
LiveData for MultiCloud is powered by WANdisco’s patented DConE, a high-performance coordination engine that keeps data continuously available and consistent across locations and systems, regardless of latency and distance.
Easy Management of Multiple Cloud Storage Providers: LiveData for MultiCloud makes it easy for customers to leverage multiple cloud providers to optimize cost and workflow efficiencies. With LiveData for MultiCloud, data can be transparently and non-disruptively replicated between Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, and S3 compatible storage systems, such as Dell EMC, Dell Virtustream, IBM Cloud, Oracle Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, Scality and more.
No Vendor Lock-in: LiveData for MultiCloud ensures that data can be replicated and stored in its native format for both S3 compatible storage and Azure Blob Storage, for direct access by cloud native applications and services. This means that users can use Amazon Services, such as Amazon Elasticsearch Service, Amazon EMR, or Azure services like Azure Stream Analytics, Azure Machine Learning, Power BI, and Azure Search, directly on the replicated data. The benefit is no vendor lock-in, without the need to migrate code, and it works with existing data.
Increased Data Availability: Large amounts of data can take hours, even days, to move from one cloud region or data center to another. Applications working with large datasets should be located near their data to improve performance and efficiency. This means data must be maintained and replicated in its native form, anywhere—on-premises, hybrid-cloud, in the cloud, multi-region and multi-cloud. LiveData for MultiCloud ensures that your data stays accurate and consistent across all your business application environments, regardless of geographic location, data platform architecture, or cloud storage provider.
- Global data consistency: Guarantee global, real-time data accuracy to applications in different clouds across geo-distributed, multi-region, multi-cloud architectures.
- Protection from cloud vendor over-reliance: Ensure global data resiliency and eliminate application downtime from the failure of an object storage service by having strongly consistent replicas of objects in another cloud or location.
- Use the right cloud for the right job: Optimize your multi-cloud strategy and business performance by taking advantage of each cloud’s unique or best-performing capabilities, and avoid vendor lock-in.
Usability: Gain visibility into replication rules management (create, list, update, delete), data consistency checks, consistency reports, and make you data consistent with a simple, intuitive, web-based user interface.
High-availability: LiveData for MultiCloud supports high availability deployments in a multi-cloud environment. The failure of a Fusion node does not mean downtime or degraded performance.
Replication across firewalls: Replicate data between on-premises and cloud storage (AWS or Azure) in a DMZ configuration. In such scenarios, the on-premises Fusion Server can see and make connections to the AWS or Azure Fusion server, however the on-premises network can be completely isolated from cloud access by firewalls. Replication can occur even while no inbound on-premises connections are allowed on any port.
Data security: LiveData for MultiCloud provides security for data at rest as well as data in flight. Use the native security mechanisms of your cloud storage service, and leverage secure, encrypted transmission of data and other information between locations.
Amazon S3 compatibility: LiveData for MultiCloud supports both Amazon S3 v2 and v4 APIs. This compatibility allows applications to freely move between AWS, S3 compatible storage systems, and other cloud providers.
Azure Blob Storage compatibility: LiveData for MultiCloud also supports the native Azure Blob Storage APIs.
Concurrent Amazon S3 and Azure Blob Storage API access: LiveData for MultiCloud enables near-instantaneous replication of Objects and Blobs, enabling applications to use either the Amazon S3 API or Azure Blob Storage API to access data natively in their respective locations at the same time.
