WANdisco Wins Three Year Contract With "Major" US Healthcare Firm

December 27 2018

LONDON (Alliance News) - Big data and analytics firm WANdisco PLC said on Thursday it has won a three-year contract with a "major" US managed healthcare company worth USD700,000 in royalties to the UK-listed firm.

The contract was secured via its original equipment manufacturer sales partnership with IBM Corp to deploy WANdisco's cloud product, WANdisco Fusion.

WANdisco said that it "significantly expanded" its relationship with IBM earlier this year, increasing its royalty percentage to 50%, from 30% previously, and agreeing a guaranteed annual royalty commitment.

The unnamed client has substantial data requirements, the company said, with over 45 million customers and 5,700 hospitals in its network. The US firm will be using Fusion on-premise for replication and disaster recovery. It is also the first sale of WANdisco's newly released Live backup solution, the company noted.

"We are continuing to gain strong traction in industries where critical data is needed to be continuously available. This is the second major healthcare deal we have agreed this month and follows our largest ever cloud deal valued at USD3 million. Our pipeline with IBM continues to build and our expanded relationship means we can efficiently and profitably service on-premise contracts," said Chief Executive & Chairman David Richards.

Shares in WANdisco were up 10% at 468.55 pence on Thursday.
