San Ramon, CA November 23, 2010 - Following on from the highly anticipated launch of Subversion MultiSite 4.0, WANdisco held an informative webinar last week instructing users on the new features and highlights.
With MultiSite 4.0, WANdisco has added some exciting new features:
SSL Support to encrypt all network traffic between development sites
Transactions between nodes and other forms of traffic can now be configured to use SSL encryption. This allows for heightened security when information is passing between Subversion nodes.
Silent Installer
This non GUI based installation automates deployment across multiple development sites, for faster implementation. This shortens any maintenance periods, and allows for testing of a repeatable installation process.
Complete LDAP Integration
MultiSite 4.0 configures LDAP for the Admin Console logins, so multiple admin users can log on to the system using their individual log in details. This is an additional security feature, effectively creating a group of allowed admin users. This feature also allows for authentication of an LDAP log in before replicating a transaction to other nodes, thus reducing the risk of error and incorrect information being replicated.
Parallel Transaction Processing
With 4.0, each repository within a node has its own queue for transactions. This enhanced synchronisation feature allows for greater control over individual repositories and speeds up the synchronisation/replication process.
New RESTful API
MultiSite 4.0 now supports a new RESTful API that allows third party tools or scripts to query and also modify replicator configuration parameters. Similarly, replicator operations can be invoked by these tools or scripts.
