San Ramon, CA April 6, 2010 – WANdisco, a leading provider of infrastructure software for replication, scalability and high availability, and a corporate sponsor of the Subversion open source project with core developers from the project on staff, today announced that it has made WANdisco certified Subversion binaries available for free download. WANdisco's certified Subversion binaries provide a complete, fully tested version of Subversion based on the most recent stable release.

WANdisco Already Supports The World's Largest Subversion Implementations

For over five years, WANdisco's software has supported the world's largest Subversion implementations, with as many as 40,000 users, 2,500 Subversion repositories and over 18 million transactions per day in a single implementation. WANdisco's certified binaries undergo the same rigorous quality assurance as their established enterprise Subversion products have to go through in order to support these massive implementations.

Enterprise-Class Subversion Support.

WANdisco is also offering comprehensive enterprise-class support for organizations that want to use Subversion, but require the guaranteed response times, 24-by-7 access to online and phone support, automated delivery of the latest fixes and upgrades and other benefits that typically come with a commercial software vendor's support contract. WANdisco offers four levels of enterprise-class support for Subversion: Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum Plus. Depending upon the support level chosen by the customer, benefits include:

  • 24-by-7 Online, Phone and Email Support.
  • Guaranteed response times.
  • Global coverage from the United States and Europe.
  • Automated delivery of fixes and upgrades.
  • Technical Account Managers who act as a single point of contact for critical issues.
  • Indemnification coverage to protect against third party intellectual property claims.
  • Security solutions that deliver automated access control and audit reporting.
  • Semi-annual Subversion System Health Check.

With core developers from the project on staff and over five years of experience providing solutions that support the world's largest Subversion implementations, WANdisco is uniquely qualified to deliver these support services. WANdisco's dedicated team of Subversion development, QA and support professionals is focused exclusively on delivering the highest quality version of the software. The team is led by Hyrum Wright, WANdisco's Director of Open Source. Hyrum has been the release manager for Subversion since early 2008. WANdisco's core Subversion developers have been involved in the Subversion open source project since its inception and have the status within the community to make immediate changes to Subversion's code base. This ensures the fastest possible delivery of fixes and enhancements.

Free community support for Subversion is also available with registration.

WANdisco recently announced that it had become a sponsor of the TortoiseSVN project, which develops the popular Subversion client for Windows. Stefan Küng, the lead developer for TortoiseSVN since its inception in 2003 has joined the company to lead this effort. As a result, WANdisco is able to offer a free download of the latest fully tested version of TortoiseSVN. WANdisco also offers enterprise-class support for TortoiseSVN as well as free community support with registration.

About Subversion

Subversion (SVN) is a version control system initiated in 2000. It is used to maintain current and historical versions of files such as source code, web pages, and documentation. Its goal is to be a mostly-compatible successor to the widely used Concurrent Versions System (CVS). In a 2007 report by Forrester Research, Subversion was recognized as the sole leader in the Standalone Software Configuration Management (SCM) category and a strong performer in the Software Configuration and Change Management (SCCM) category.
