San Ramon, CA February 17, 2010 – WANdisco, a leading corporate sponsor of the Subversion open source project, with active core developers from the community on staff and solutions that support some of the world's largest Subversion implementations, today announced that it is committing its resources to support the community's efforts to deliver Subversion 1.7 this summer. Subversion 1.7 will add significant new features including:
- Working copy enhancements collectively referred to as WC-NG (Working Copy-Next Generation) that will provide centralized metadata storage and improved extensibility to lay the groundwork for offline commits and other features normally associated with distributed version control systems such as Git.
- HTTPv2.0, an update of the current WebDAV HTTP protocol that will boost performance while preserving the benefits of web access to Subversion.
- A number of new features and enhancements that will improve performance and ease of use.
