With the release of Apache Subversion 1.7, 2011 has been a great year to be a part of the Subversion community, and it’s been an exciting time for WANdisco, to say the least! Not only did we expand our team, we launched a major new product - our uberSVN platform for Subversion, followed by the release of an integrated app store designed especially for uberSVN: uberAPPS. We were also honoured to receive a variety of industry awards, ranging from the Made in Sheffield accolade, to being named a medallist in the prestigious 2011 UK IT Industry Awards, and even being listed as one of Red Herring’s Top 100 North America Tech Startups.
But, most importantly, we had the opportunity to get more involved in the community, by becoming a sponsor of the Apache Software Foundation, a partner of CloudBees - the leading force behind Jenkins - and stepping up our free training webinars and blogs, to help you get the most out of the world’s most popular version control system. Check out our timeline for an overview of everything that’s been going on with WANdisco in 2011:
Thank you to everyone who has downloaded our products; joined us on a webinar; chosen WANdisco for their Subversion support needs; voted for us in industry awards; or simply dropped us a nice email or a Tweet. We really appreciate your continued support! And finally, thank you to Subversion’s community of contributors, developers and users, for all their hard work on the 1.7 series, and for helping to keep Subversion at the cutting edge of version control. At WANdisco, we’re already making plans for 2012, and have some exciting news lined up over the next few months - stay tuned for more info. But for now, the only thing left to do is wish you happy holidays from everyone at WANdisco! We look forward to continuing to work with you in 2012.
Team WANdisco.
That Was the Year That Was
In his end of year blog, WANdisco CEO David Richards looks back at 2011, and hints at what the Subversion community can expect in 2012, including uberSVN Team, uberSVN Enterprise and a solution to the Git/SVN conundrum.
Subversion 1.7.2 Released
Subversion 1.7 was a major step forward for the community, featuring a new HTTP protocol variant, a complete rewrite of the working copy metadata system, and a new remote dumpfile tool. Now, Subversion 1.7.2 brings even more enhancements and fixes to Subversion. As ever, the latest binaries can be downloaded for free from WANdisco, and are available through our uberSVN ALM platform. If you need more info on what’s new in 1.7.2, check out our blog, or if you need some extra help making the leap to Subversion 1.7, our Subversion Sherpas are here to help.
uberSVN - Blake Edition
We’re pleased to announce that uberSVN 11.12 (Blake) is now available, exclusively from WANdisco. As you may already know, uberSVN is developed entirely in Sheffield, UK (it was even awarded the prestigious Made in Sheffield mark earlier this year!) so what better way to codename our releases, than after Sheffield pubs? uberSVN 11.12 is codenamed ‘Blake’ after the Blake Hotel pub in Walkley, Sheffield, and we had a great evening at the Blake, celebrating the successful release of uberSVN Blake. For all the details on what’s new in uberSVN 11.12 (including a major improvement to the uberAPPS store) check out the Release Notes.
Subversion MultiSite - The software that pays you to have it installed
In 2009, Forrester produced a whitepaper on the total economic impact of Subversion MultiSite on a Global Fortune 500, US-based manufacturer of electronic components, and found that the company saw a 167% ROI after deploying Subversion MultiSite. Now, we have updated this whitepaper, and are pleased to announce that the same company has seen a 380% ROI over the last three years! Take a glance at our 1 page summary of the report to get the key facts, or download the full report from the same page, to find out the Total Economic Impact of Subversion MultiSite.
