Can you believe the first quarter of 2011 has passed us by already!? It has been an incredibly eventful start to the year for WANdisco and we are looking forward to some very exciting times ahead. We have a major new product release coming in the next few weeks, the eagerly awaited release of SVN 1.7 is on the not too distant horizon, and we've already delivered a whole new suite of free Subversion resources as well as the inaugural Subversion Live conferences. It's shaping up to be a great year already.
Great support for all our customers
One thing that we take a lot of pride in at WANdisco is the way that we support our customers. When you need to rely on support for Subversion you can rely on WANdisco. We've been very encouraged by the positive feedback we've received from our customers. We know the importance of quick response times regardless of time zone, as well as a personal touch. As a global financial services provider said recently: "We get immediate responses from WANdisco. All we have to do is pick up the phone and our questions get answered." Read more about our support in this blog http://blogs.wandisco.com/author/david/ or go to http://www.wandisco.com/subversion/support
Vote for the next venue for Subversion Live!
Following the inaugural Subversion Live conferences in California, London and Boston, we are already planning bigger and better things for next year! The initial date for Boston had to be postponed due to several feet of snow but the rescheduled conference was the most popular of all. In 2012 Subversion Live will be a two-day event, featuring a day of hands-on workshops and birds of a feather sessions prior to the day of the main conference. We would also like to hear your suggestions on where Subversion live should be hosted next year. We covered three time zones this year, but there are Subversion users all over the planet so let us know where you would like to meet up on our new poll http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ST3YSBZ
When is Subversion 1.7 going to be done?
Hyrum Wright, the release manager for the Subversion project for the past three years, answers this question that's been on everybody's mind in his latest blog post: "What's taking So Long?". Hyrum provides a developer's eye perspective on the effort involved in delivering this major new release and the high expectations around it. He also encourages YOU to get involved. In addition to being the Subversion project's release manager, Hyrum is also WANdisco's Director of Open Source; managing our Subversion developers and leading our efforts within the project.
Free training and other free resources
Develop your Subversion skills with our new series of free online training classes available between April and June. You can get more information and register for any of the classes listed below at http://www.wandisco.com/training/webinars. Register early as space is limited and we fill these classes very quickly.
You can also find a new online library of free Subversion cheat sheets that we call SVNref Cards at http://www.wandisco.com/svnref. Based on the highlights from each free training class, SVNref Cards are written by active members of the Apache Subversion project to give you the latest tips and tricks at your fingertips.
Thinking of those in Japan
You may know that we have WANdisco staff in Japan (we have also extended our operations in China this year as the implementation of Subversion continues to grow in Asia). Thankfully our people based in Tokyo did not suffer as badly as many in Japan but like everyone else we were shocked by the destruction caused by the recent earthquake and tsunami. The people of Japan need still need our help so if you can donate to help them at this incredibly difficult time please visit the Red Cross website: http://rdcrss.org/hNwDH1
