Open Source Software Developer

WANdisco is seeking experienced Python developers to work full-time on a next generation open source defect tracker.

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Knowledge and proven commercial experience of coding in Python as a primary language.
  • Experience in front-end web development and related technologies.
  • Experience of using and integrating solutions with Subversion.
  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to self-manage time and workload.
  • Ability to develop a clear vision and turn that into an implementable technical design.
  • A passion for open source software development and demonstrable experience of participation in an open source project / community.

Of advantage, but not essential:

  • Knowledge of the Trac project, especially the codebase and project architecture.
  • Current committer rights to the Trac project or another open source project.
  • Knowledge of other programming languages and technologies, especially Java/J2EE.
  • Experience with the Genshi templating engine and JQuery.
  • Knowledge of Apache/WSGI.

The role is suitable for remote working although the position will be managed from WANdisco’s European Headquarters in Sheffield, UK. Regular travel to this site will be a requirement, as will an ability to work closely with the UK team during UK working hours.
