Social Captain Hall of Fame logo

We don't believe in the fad of company enforced fun, that stuff makes us cringe, but we do believe that teams that play, socialize and have some laughs together also work better together. So we have a social captain, a position that is open to all employees and is elected each quarter. The serving captain is tasked with organising team outings, social events and out-of-office adventures.

Q2 - Q4 2012 Kevin Southall
Kevin Southall

Kevin Southall is an Inside Sales Representative at WANdisco. Kevin is well-known in the WANdisco office as being the life and soul of the party (and being able to talk a glass eye to sleep!) so we’re all excited to see what Kev has in store for us, during his stint as Social Captain.

Q1 2012 Katherine Sheehan

Katherine Sheehan is our Automated Test Engineer at WANdisco. She builds the tests that our QA team run on Subversion Multisite and uberSVN. Katherine works in the Sheffield office and was born here in the UK, but she spent her childhood in Manitoba Canada (apparently the coldest place on Earth!) and Oklahoma USA. When she isn’t building QA tests for WANdisco she enjoys running and cooking (which she admits don’t go together). Her talents don’t just lie in software – Katherine is an awesome singer, songwriter and dancer.

Q4 2011 Liam Jolly

Software engineer by day, supplier of sandwiches on a Friday morning. Two extremely important roles Liam holds at WANdisco. When he's not working on uberSVN or fetching sustenance, Liam is active in a number of the Sheffield user groups (http://thegisthub.net/groups/), a keen gamer, and likes to catch a movie or two.

Q3 2011 Mark Lucas

Mark is WANdisco's chief technical writer. When he's not writing user guides and product documentation, Mark can be found hiking in the peaks, exercising passions for photography and illustration or supporting the local skeptics group.

Joe Dreimann is WANdisco's resident user experience (UX) designer. You will become familiar with his work as uberSVN and Access Control become even more intuitive and easy to use over the coming months. He is also leading the UX design of Apache Bloodhound, which will be introduced at Subversion Live 2012. Outside of work he is a keen cyclist and hiker, and as Green Captain he plans to promote cycling to his colleagues in and around Sheffield, UK.

Green Captain (Q1 & Q2 2012) Ben Fraser

WANdisco’s first ever Green Captain is graphic and web designer Ben Fraser. Ben is behind all the graphics you see at the WANdisco and uberSVN websites, our blog, newsletters and more. When he’s not coming up with new designs for WANdisco, Ben produces electronic music, DJs and runs his Sabretooth Records label.
